The project has been taking longer than anticipated due to the record rainfall that we've received during that past couple of months. However, work has once again resumed and, if our luck holds, will complete within the next month or so. The soil around the completed ponds will be smoothed out in preparation for re-sodding and any repair work, if needed, will begin after completion of the project.
We would like to remind our homeowners not to remove any of the dredged soil as we will still need to test it for any contaminants.

As you may or may not know, our wonderful Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve opened on July 11 of this year and is officially active. This wonderful city asset is within a few minutes walking or biking distance from most of our homes. Speaking of walking and biking, did you know that the park boasts over 7 miles of natural trail surface and over 3 miles of paved trail surface?
So much has been completed and yet there's so much more to be done. The city has additional work planned such as the visitor's center that is one to two years off as well as the western extension (west of Jupiter going NW to corner of Chapparal/Ave K) which will hopefully be completed in next several years. Stay tuned for more park updates as we received them or visit the official park website In the meantime, go enjoy the park!

Because some current and upcoming projects will have some effect on most, if not all, of our neighbors, your HOA Board wants you to be aware of them. Here are the details that we know of:
- As you have probably seen, the Parks Department is adding a sidewalk to the Northbound side of Jupiter Road between Spring Creek and Los Rios Boulevard. The City Estimates that the sidewalk and retaining wall construction will last another 4 weeks, with continued closure of the right lane in that area during work hours.
- Chaparral Road will be completed as a divided roadway from Avenue K all the way to the East City Limits (we're told it will go to Allen Heights). Construction set to begin in December, with estimated completion about a year from now.
- The intersection of Jupiter and Spring Creek will be getting some improvements. Eastbound Spring Creek will be getting another left turn lane (for a total of two) and another right turn lane (for a total of two) to alleviate congestion during peak hours. The schedule for this work is TBD, as it was just approved this week.
If you need any additional information, please see the City of Plano website. |
